It all begins with an idea.

Dave and Amy met in 2007, were married and became business partners in 2008. They live in Medina and have 3 boys, 19 year old twins Aren & Brenden and 9 year old Deano.

Dave grew up on the Ohio River where his Friday night family go-to pizza was “Square Cut” Pizza. David’s family frequented hot spots like DiCarlo’s and Jax and so introduced Amy to the “back home” treat when they began dating in 2007.  Dave remembers waiting with his parents in the lobby of these pizza shops as a kid, “they always seemed to be having so much fun, the guy working the oven announced ‘HOT PIZZA’ as another tray was ready to be prepped with that cold cheese and pepperoni” he said with a smile.  

With the closest DiCarlo’s location over 2 hours away - you could find a text message thread on any of their phones any day of the week about making the trip to pick up trays of this square cut pizza.

In 2017, the idea of bringing this type of pizza to Medina started circulating and friends were over-the-moon about the idea.

Dave and Amy started searching for information on how to get started & who to get connected with! After 2 years of stalled attempts and delays, they decided to go right to the source. Amy contacted Mike DiCarlo, owner of DiCarlo’s Original Pizza and son of Primo DiCarlo, the creator of the Original 1945 Square Cut Pizza.

Mike & his wife, Gretchen, were so excited to work with Dave & Amy. Kindred spirits really.

After their first meeting, Mike & Gretchen came down to Medina to see the new spot. They loved it. And so Ohio Valley Pizza Company was born.

Now that permitting is complete, thanks to guidance and design of Architect - Tony Cerney, Dave and Amy are excited to finalize the build out for a Summer Grand Opening!
